This page explains the cookies The Tradesmen Association sets, why we set them, and how you change your mind. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which covers everything else we do with your information.

Your current choice

You can review or change what you have allowed at any time: open your cookie settings. Nothing optional is set until you turn it on, and turning a category off stops it straight away.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are needed for the site to work at all — staying logged in, or checking that an enquiry came from a person rather than a script. Others are optional, and we have to ask before we use them.

The categories we use

Strictly necessary

These keep the directory working and keep it safe. They cover your login session, security checks on the review and enquiry forms, and remembering your cookie choice. We do not need your permission for these, because the site cannot be provided without them, and they are never used to track you.

Analytics — optional

Analytics cookies count visits and show us which trades and areas homeowners are searching for, so we know which parts of the directory to improve. We look at totals, not individuals. We are not currently running analytics on this site. If that changes, the cookies listed below will only be set once you have allowed this category.

Marketing and embedded media — optional

These let us measure which adverts bring homeowners to the directory, and allow content hosted elsewhere — a member’s introduction video, for example — to load on their profile. The companies hosting that content can use these cookies to build a picture of your browsing, which is why we hold them back until you agree. Where a member has added a video, you will see a placeholder with a button to allow it.

Every cookie in detail

Cookie Set by Category Expires What it does
tta_consent The Tradesmen Association Strictly necessary 6 months Remembers which cookie categories you allowed, and when you chose, so we do not ask again on every page.
wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_logged_in_* The Tradesmen Association Strictly necessary Session, or 14 days if you tick “remember me” Keeps members and staff signed in. Only set after you log in.
wp-settings-* The Tradesmen Association Strictly necessary 1 year Remembers screen preferences for logged-in members editing their own profile.
cf_clearance, __cf_bm Cloudflare Strictly necessary 30 minutes to 1 year Security and bot checks on our review and enquiry forms. Without these, spam protection cannot tell a person from a script.
elementor The Tradesmen Association Strictly necessary Session Used by our page builder to render the page you asked for.
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Analytics Up to 2 years Counts visits and tells us which trades and towns people search for. Set only if you allow analytics cookies. Not currently in use on this site.

Turning cookies off in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and set it to warn you before accepting new ones. Bear in mind that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the directory working — you will not be able to log in, and enquiry forms may refuse to send.

Changes to this policy

If we add a new cookie or a new category, we will update this page and ask you to choose again. Your saved choice lasts six months, after which we ask once more.
