How it works

A directory, not a middleman. Homeowners find and contact members directly; members pay one flat monthly fee.

For homeowners
1

Search trade and area

Every listing is tied to the trades a member does and the areas they cover.

2

Compare profiles

Read what they do, see their recent work and see which checks and documents they hold.

3

Contact them directly

Enquire through the profile or post a job. Free for homeowners, always.

For tradespeople
1

Enquire free

Tell us your trade and your patch. No cost, no commitment.

2

Confirm your identity

We check your photo ID. You also supply your insurance certificate and any trade qualifications your work requires.

3

Go live and get enquiries

Your profile appears in local searches and enquiries come straight to you.

What membership means

Identity confirmed

We check photo ID against the business named on the listing.

Insurance on file

Members supply their public liability certificate and confirm it at renewal.

Qualifications supplied

Members provide their Gas Safe, NICEIC or trade card details, shown on their listing as given to us.

Customer reviews are coming to member profiles. Until then we show what each member has told us, and what we have checked.

Be clear on this

What we check, and what we don’t

We are a directory, not a vetting service or a guarantor. Membership means we have confirmed who someone is. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a warranty of their work. Please satisfy yourself about any tradesperson before you hire them.

What we do

Check photo ID against the business named on the listing.

Ask every member for a current public liability insurance certificate.

Ask for trade qualifications and registration numbers where the work calls for them.

Remove members who we find have misrepresented themselves to us.

Pass serious, evidenced complaints to the member concerned.

What we do not do

We do not carry out background, credit or criminal record checks.

We do not inspect, supervise or sign off any member’s work.

We do not audit qualifications or insurance with the issuing bodies. Details are shown as members give them to us.

We do not set prices, hold your money, or become a party to your contract.

We are not liable for a member’s work, conduct, delays, costs or losses.

Your contract is with the tradesperson

Any work you agree is a contract directly between you and that member. Always get a written quote, check their insurance and qualifications yourself, and keep a record of what was agreed. If something goes wrong, your rights are against the tradesperson, though we do want to hear about it, and persistent problems cost members their listing.
